Casual dining with a distinct italian twist

This past decade, Amsterdam’s culinary scene has gone leaps and bounds, transitioning from tedious and mediocre to a wave of exciting new arrivals. One of such establishments is San George, a casual but ultra-chic diner and the latest addition of the Café George restaurant network. Established many years ago, the chain helped raise the bar in the Dutch capital’s restaurant scene with a string of stylish restaurants. This new venture marks a renewed collaboration with architecture practice Framework, and features a colour-infused interior with copper accents and a subtle raw edge. This is a place where to hang out all night, starting off with a signature cocktail or two at the 1960s-inspired bar or at the bay window lounge, and when feeling peckish, move swiftly over to one of the white linen-clad tables. The dining area is has the welcoming feel of a stately home, replete with prerequisite decorative elements. As said, San George is a casual diner, and as such it features an all-day menu that aims to please everyone. That may sound generic, but the knowledgeable staff – mind you, they’re all Italian –  know their stuff and offer a wide range of sumptuous dishes, from classic antipasti to more elaborate meat and fish dishes.
