The art of creating special looks for a photo spread or fashion show takes very special people who have imagination, high energy and a vision to make it all happen. Who are these people? Where do they come from? How do they do it? I recently had the opportunity to find out.
I caught up with Carlos Saidel at the Noordemarkt on one of those rare sunny days in the Netherlands. He is one of Amsterdam’s newest talent finds. A native of Argentina, Carlos has lived in Amsterdam approximately 10 years. He saw a different path for his future other than the usual 9to5 position in a corporate office environment.
Carlos: “If I look back, it’s very obvious to me now how I came to this point in my life. “I knew I was creative and always loved fashion”. “I was uninspired doing non-creative jobs and this pushed me to discover what I love – creating beautiful images”. “The ‘wow factor’ is being able to work in an environment with extremely creative people who inspire each other”. “It does not feel like work, I am very lucky to be able to make a living from something that truly fuels my passion”. “It can be challenging at times, especially in the early stages of getting started”. “It requires time to grow and develop yourself but, that is also an exciting part as well.”
Question: “When it comes to your personal living environment, what’s your taste”?
Carlos: “I prefer modern mixed with a vintage twist”. “A combination of the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s all put together in just the right way, that suites me.”
