Over the last few days I’ve become quite troubled by the amount of stuff that I’ve collected in my closet in the past few years. Like everyone else, I love a good sale – I love to catch a great give-away – and I usually end up keeping a bunch of stuff I find myself wearing maybe once or twice.
I genuinely admire people that are able to name every single item in their closet (accessories + shoes included!) and make a million outfits by putting every single piece to good use.
I love the idea of having Carrie Bradshaw’s closet, (I envy those celebs with their ooo so nice closet that are colour coordinated and shoes lookin’ all pretty) but I think I’d love the idea more if I knew what I would be wearing every morning without spending 15 minutes of frustration trying on every piece of clothing I own.
This really should have been part of my new year’s resolution – but it’s better late than never right?
This weekend’s project: DE-CLUTTER my closet.
Seriously! Colour coordinating it and everything. I want to get rid of all the things that I don’t absolutely adore, love, and wear (i.e. I haven’t touched it in the past year).
Now, there are always a few items that I hold close and dear to my heart because they hold some kind of sentimental value – but I don’t wear them, ever. I’m planning on keeping a small section of my closet (or a box) just for that purpose. I know I have a few pieces that I’ve purchased while I was on vacation in the past, and no matter how I don’t like them anymore, I can’t bring myself to toss them out because I can remember the feeling I had when I first purchased them: joy. They just bring great memories back to the present.
I’d like to challenge you all to do the same. De-clutter your closets, accessories, shoes and keep what you really love.
Each item should serve a true purpose.
