Model of the Month February: Rachael J Williams

Posted on | January 29, 2012 | No Comments

This month , By StylingAmsterdam speaks to one of the most beautiful black models in England. She was Winner of the first ever Miss Black Britain and she came in the top 15 of the Miss England 2007 competition

What is the best part of the job for you?
I love to travel. Last year I went to Ghana, Nigeria, Sierra Leone and Atlanta. I hope to go to South Africa, India and Miami this year experiencing different cultures is amazing.

Who do you look up to in the industry?
I love most of the 80′s Supermodels so Naomi Campbell, Cindy Crawford and Tyra Banks. I admire what Tyra has done with her career; creating shows like ANTM gives you girls amazing opportunities to break in to the industry.

What do you like to do when you’re not modeling?
I love to dance! Anything with an upbeat Tempo, so Salsa, Afro Beats and Dance music

Tell us a bit about being guest judge of West Africa’s Next Top Model?
Being a guest judge on the show was amazing especially as it was hosted by Supermodel Oluchi. There were so many beautiful girls with loads of potential and it was so hard choosing who’d go into the finals but we got there in the end.

Tell us more about We Girls Rock, you are Founder and Director?
WGR was something I started to give young girls opportunities that were not open to me when I started modeling. Now I have branched into The RJW Model Academy offering courses and workshops for aspiring models. It’s so much fun and really prepares girls for the life of modeling. (More info is on my website www.rachaeljwilliams.com)

You also have the perfect body! what are your fitness/diet secrets?
Awww thank you!! I exercise loads as I don’t want to restrict my options for food! But I run about 4x a week and eat lots of nuts and vegetables.

What’s your most favorite and least favorite thing about yourself?
I love my complexion and I least like my weakness for chocolate.

What advice can you give to young girls who are aspiring models?
To stay focused and don’t ever give up, even when people tell you No! I was told no by about thirty agencies when I started and I’m doing well.

What is your feel-good philosophy?
To always smile and laugh.

Lastly, any exciting projects you’re working on?
My Academy! We have a few workshops in March and April and I can’t wait to meet the girls.
Also I’m travelling to Africa for fashion week soon and I know it’s going to be an amazing trip.

Kindest Regards,
